With less than a week left until our live CTI show in Glasgow's West End, it's suddenly feeling very real.
I'm quite used to speaking in front of total strangers—I do it all the time for LEAP (The Law Enforcement Action Partnership). But this time, there are some notable differences.
Usually, I’m addressing people who know very little about the subject matter—whether it's the War on Drugs or law enforcement in relation to the drug market. In those situations, I'm the expert in the room. I do most of the talking until the Q&A, and I’m in my comfort zone. Plus, as their invited guest, the audience is generally polite to me. But this live podcast event will be a different story.
We'll have a diverse audience, fully engaged and likely to have their own specialist subjects they want to quiz us on. The Q&A could go in any direction, making it impossible to prepare for everything.
When we record our episodes, we have the safety net of our production team—Chris. He's great at identifying mishaps, misspeaks, and other distractions like sighs, clicking pens or background hums, that inevitably occur during the uncut podcast. But this time, we'll be in front of a live audience. We won't be broadcasting the event live but we will record it and put it out as a Podcast at a later date.
The audience itself—former colleagues, current friends and associates who know me more for refereeing or playing Walking Football, family members who are always our fiercest critics, and people I haven’t seen in ages, not to mention those I’ll see immediately afterward.
Like Crime Time Inc itself, we agreed to keep doing it only as long as we enjoyed the process. Thankfully, the three of us feel like we’re just getting started as we bring Season 2 to an end with over 40 episodes under our belt. Hopefully, after Sunday's live show at Hillhead Library (2 pm start), we'll feel the same way about live podcasting—and maybe even plan more for the future.
But first, let's get this one done.
There are still a few spaces left but we are expecting them to get booked soon and we should be at maximum capacity. You can book your space on our home page. Just follow the link.
